About the Job

A key member of the admissions team, an Admissions Counselor
must be enthusiastic, highly-motivated, and have the ability to articulate the values and objectives of a liberal arts institution to
attract, recruit, and admit prepared students to the University of Minnesota Morris. The individual selected will represent Morris to the
public providing high quality service to prospective students and their families and collaborating with members of the campus to support
students and advance efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive environment at UMM. The duties of the position will require travel,
including extended overnight stays, and flexible evening and weekend hours.

Job Summary

The Office of
Admissions at the University of Minnesota Morris is accepting applications for 1-2 Admissions Counselor positions. A key member of the
admissions team, an Admissions Counselor must be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and have the ability to articulate the values and
objectives of a liberal arts institution to attract, recruit, and admit prepared students to the University of Minnesota Morris. The
individual selected will represent Morris to the public and provide high quality service to prospective students and their families. The
individual will collaborate with members of the campus to support students and advance efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive
environment at UMN Morris. The duties of the position will require travel, including extended overnight stays, and flexible evening and
weekend hours.

Territory Management (50%)

  • Designs a recruitment plan tailored for assigned territory to meet
    short-term and long-term goals.
  • Plans and executes territory management plan, conducting student recruitment/outreach activities on
    and off campus as well as virtually.
  • Monitors student behavior trends in territory and adjusts recruiting plan
    accordingly.
  • Reviews applications and makes admissions decisions based on academic requirements and program choice compatibility.
  • Engages in extensive phone calls to applicants within assigned recruitment territory.
  • Meet individual recruitment goals and
    objectives.

General Recruitment (35%)

  • Plans and participates in recruitment and enrollment activities,
    including: open houses, regional presentations, orientation programs, career days, regional and national college fairs, scholarship days,
    virtual events.
  • Meets with prospective students and parents to provide individual counseling on educational options and
    alternatives.
  • Represents Morris at on and off campus events as needed.
  • Anticipates and responds to the needs of guests
    from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Marketing/Brand Building (10%)

  • Builds brand awareness and reputation
    in prospective student and parent audiences.
  • Develops and presents public presentations designed to promote the University.
  • Models and promotes respect and effective partnerships in advancing Morris’s efforts to build an inclusive, respectful campus
    community.

Other (5%)

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, twelve month, annually renewable, academic and administrative staff appointment. The
position reports to the Director of Admissions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience, or master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated understanding and
    strong commitment to the value of a liberal arts education, or ability to quickly obtain such knowledge
  • Demonstrated commitment to
    building a diverse, inclusive campus and living community
  • Excellent public speaking and writing skills, and strong organizational
    skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Demonstrated
    commitment to recruiting a diverse student population
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 12 weeks annually, including extended overnight
    stays, and flexible evening and weekend hours
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (or
qualifications)

  • Previous experience in college admission, college counseling, or in related areas of higher
    education
  • Experience as undergraduate admissions intern, student ambassador or student volunteer experience will be
    considered
  • Knowledge and experience using social media tools
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a team atmosphere, and with
    a minimum of direct supervision

About the Department

The Office of Admissions
is the primary source of information about the University of Minnesota Morris for prospective students. The office recruits and admits
students and facilitates the connection to the University faculty and staff to discuss programs in which a student is interested. In
addition, it represents and markets the campus through electronic communications and printed brochures and material regarding all phases of
the institution and its policies and programs.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range:
$
42,500; depending on education/qualifications/experience
