The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) is searching for a recruitment position at the Lafayette campus to join our student-centered, collaborative team. The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW), founded in 1911, is a university-wide system school with CSWE-accredited MSW and BSW Programs since 1923 and 1975 respectively, reaffirmed in 2021. The School of Social Work headquarters are in Indianapolis at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI) with programs on 7 IU campuses. IUSSW enrolls approximately 1,800 students across programs (PhD, MSW, BSW) and campuses. Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides support and reports to the IU School of Social Work Director of Recruitment.
  • Manages admissions application reviews, system data inputs and maintenance, and admissions recommendations and decisions.
  • Interacts with students, families, external organizations, and within the university for information exchange and issue resolution.
  • With assistance from the IUSSW Director of Recruitment, develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Locates potential students for the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the IU School of Social Work at the Lafayette, Northwest, and South Bend campuses.
  • Leads potential students to become applicants across multiple SSW programs and locations.
  • Works closely with the respective Program Director(s) and the IUSSW Director of Recruitment to carry out recruitment responsibilities.
  • Identifies sources where potential students will likely be found.
  • Initiates and maintains contact with recruitment sources to build ongoing relationships.
  • Implements strategies to maximize outreach to potential students through traditional means (e.g., career fairs, open houses, professional organizations, graduate and undergraduate degree programs within IU and at other colleges and universities).
  • Develops an annual calendar of internal and external recruitment and yield management events.
  • Makes presentations, both live and virtual, to recruiting sources to inform potential students about our degree programs.
  • Attends fairs or other events to represent the degree program.
  • Identifies additional fairs or events where participants could reasonably be expected to lead to interest in the degree programs.
  • Input CRM (Customer Relationship Management) data about leads, contacts, and outcomes for the degree programs.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with counterparts at state educational institutions and other professional organizations and agencies to enhance and facilitate ongoing recruitment efforts.
  • Travels to and represents the social work school at state, regional, and national recruitment events.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
  • Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
  • Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
  • Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
  • May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors.

EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree in marketing or related business area

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years in admissions, higher education, marketing, or related field (recruiting highly desired)

  • Experience in marketing in higher education

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Requires ability to periodically travel.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), which is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
