WISCONSIN. (Northern News Now) – The Universities of Wisconsin are changing the admission process for certain students across the Badger State.
Direct Admit Wisconsin is a new program that allows some high school students in the state to be accepted to 10 Universities of Wisconsin locations automatically.
Starting next week, qualifying high school seniors will receive emails to their school accounts that they’ve been admitted.
They’ll then fill out a form to connect with the campus they’re interested in, all for free.
University leaders believe this program will open the door for students who didn’t think college was an option.
“We believe we are going to reach students who might not otherwise have chosen to come,” said Jay Rothman, president of the Universities of Wisconsin. “Once we can show them the opportunity, once we show them the financial aid we can offer, once we show them the great things they can accomplish at our universities.”
Only four high schools in the Northland are a part of this new program: Ashland, Shell Lake, Solon Springs, and Winter.
All UW campuses are participating in Direct Admit Wisconsin except Madison, Eau Claire, and La Crosse.
