OKWU’s International Student Admissions Counselor drives the recruitment process within
the international student population for all incoming international students to traditional, residential and Graduate and Professional
Studies (GPS) programs. The person in this role proactively engages key constituents and partners (e.g. Churches, youth groups, pastors,
high school counselors, etc.) to identify and develop opportunities to connect with prospective students. Due to the position being exempt
and the nature of the work involving international hours, the employee can be remote when appropriate, which will be determined by the
supervisor.
Serving as a university liaison and advocate for the prospective student being recruited, the Admissions Counselor works
to:
- Recruit and enroll international students to the university
- Recruit and enroll non-international students when
applicable - Maintain good communication with coaching staff as it relates to their anticipated enrollment of student
athletes - Gather all required documentation needed to issue an I-20
- Gather all required documentation for successful
enrollment - Communicate all details and dates for a successful admissions process
- Work with Student Development offices,
Student Service offices, academic offices, athletics, and Creative Impact including other areas to assist the student in recruitment,
enrolling and moving to campus or the Bartlesville area. - Due to the position being exempt and the nature of the work involving

- Identify new and existing markets to
recruit incoming international students to the university - Responsible for traveling as assigned to call on prospective leads; both
individuals and organizations (e.g. churches, college fairs, schools) - Responsible for presenting accurate and engaging information
to prospective students and their parents during campus visits, meetings via zoom or in person, and other activities related to
recruiting - Responsible for planning, advertising, and hosting campus events related to recruiting and retaining
students - Assist in cultivating special university events for youth groups and high schools
- Responsible for advising the
prospective student on what scholarships that are applicable to them and preparing them with questions to ask Financial
Aid - Responsible for a high-level of customer service engagement; assisting prospective students through the admissions process via
telephone, email, text, zoom and face-to-face communication - Responsible for managing the prospective student’s admissions file, from
inquiry to matriculation - When applicable, counselor is responsible for informing the student (and coach), collecting documentation
for the academic appeals committee, and providing the appeal file to committee - Stay current on government rules and regulations
regarding issuing I-20s and maintain DSO certification - Responsible for managing the prospective international student’s admissions
file, including issuing their I-20 and renewing their registration each term - Assist other DSOs in peak times as
needed - Oversee student worker’s work assignments, when applicable
- Performs other duties as assigned
