General Summary of Position:
The UMass Lowell division of Graduate, Online, and Professional Studies (GPS) is seeking qualified applicants to join our growing team of student success professionals. The Enrollment Support Specialist (ESS) will review the records of incoming and current students, with the program’s academic advisor, to ensure timely follow-up on worksheets, advisement reports, and university petitions and exceptions, ensuring a smooth path to degree completion for undergraduate continuing education students, supporting student retention and enrollment efforts.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- Associate’s degree required – Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong communication skills both orally and in writing
- Knowledge and/or willingness to learn SIS and Salesforce
- Experience with student advising or registrar services preferred.
- Service-oriented: Intrinsic desire to help others succeed in reaching their goals.
- Experience with observing, receiving and otherwise obtaining information from relevant sources, and keeping records in a CRM
- Strong computer skills and ability to quickly adapt to new technology.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail a must.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of courses/majors offered, prerequisites, general education and graduation requirements, and university policies and procedures.
- Evaluate incoming and current student records acting as a quality check on transfer credits, academic petitions, and academic exceptions. Make recommendations to the program advisor for follow-up.
- Working with the supervision of the academic advisor, create individualized degree completion pathways for students.
- Provide timely follow-up and case management on all related advisement report questions/concerns.
- Collaborate with various university offices on student advisement reports.
- Participate in outreach efforts to re-enroll students each semester.
- Monitor student progress to intervene, guide, and recommend solutions to academic difficulties.
- Serve as an enrollment advisor during peak times or when coverage is necessary.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position.
18 hours per/week with the flexibility to choose working hours with the Assistant Director. Office hours are Monday – Thursday 8:30 am-8:00 pm and Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm.
This position is on campus in Lowell, Mass.
