Overview

An essential member of the Marketing and Communications team, the director will have significant responsibilities for developing and implementing integrated strategies to help the college achieve its enrollment goals. Considering the time frame, this person’s work will have an impact on Class of 2029 yield and on work to expand the Class of 2030 applicant pool.

Essential Duties

  • Reporting to the Sr. Associate Vice President, the director will provide day-to-day oversight of MarCom’s collaborations with admission/financial aid and other units, e.g., academic affairs, involved in recruiting, yielding, and enrolling new students.
  • The director will work with the Dean of Admission and other colleagues to develop and execute strategies to respond to changing conditions during the recruitment cycle. This responsibility requires experience and creativity, as it may involve quick adjustments to address emerging concerns.
  • The director will lead MarCom and admission collaborative efforts to create the brand-aligned strategies involved in designing the campaign (beginning in the spring) to recruit the Class of 2030.
  • The director will have primary responsibilities for creating – in collaboration with MarCom colleagues and based on input from admission personnel – the print and digital pieces the college will use during the coming months (known as “yield season”) when accepted students and their families are making Class of 2029 enrollment decisions.
  • Specific tasks will include print and email collateral concept design, copywriting, photography direction/curation, and multimedia/social media concepting.
  • The director will collaborate with the MarCom project manager and design team to prioritize and ensure timely production of the series of collateral pieces involved in executing the yield marketing strategy.
  • The director will proofread/copy edit email communications created by the third-party vendor admission engages to maintain contact with prospects through the admission cycle.
  • The director – working with MarCom and academic affairs/faculty colleagues, along with student affairs contacts – will identify and develop the compelling stories that will influence decisions. This will require advanced writing/reporting skills necessary to develop the stories that will be used across the available platforms, including email, social media, print collateral, and the college magazine.
  • The director will use those advanced writing and editorial skills to support other MarCom work as a contributor to the work of the editorial team.
