Position Summary: The title of this position will be based on
qualifications and years of experience in the profession.
This is a regional position based in Raleigh with territories throughout
the central and eastern regions of North Carolina. It is expected that the person chosen for this position will live in the Research
Triangle Area (Raleigh, NC). It is expected that travel to the main campus (Cullowhee, NC) will occur up to twice a semester (fall, spring,
and summer) for meetings and large recruitment events.
Key responsibilities for an Assistant Director of Admission – Regional
Recruiter include: 1) providing information to students and their families concerning the benefits of a college education and the available
means of acquiring it; 2) disseminating specific and accurate information concerning admission, financial aid, academic programs, and campus
life at WCU to prospective students, families, and counselors; (3) evaluating academic credentials to determine admissibility and rendering
admission decisions; (4) designing and implementing activities and programs to enhance the yields of prospects to enrolled students; 5)
coordinating special projects related to student recruitment, and 6) improving the image of Western Carolina University by assisting in the
design and development of print and electronic marketing materials which reflect the quality academic programs offered by the university.
This position requires weekly travel in addition to limited evening and weekend work. Work will be identified based in regions of North
Carolina, identified by the institution. This position will be in Cullowhee for all Open House and other recruiting events as needed, as
well as up to one day per academic semester (Fall, Spring, Summer). This position will identify and cultivate relationships with high school
counselors, community college counselors, as well as community-based organization (CBO’s) leaders. They will conduct recruitment activity at
other regional schools, i.e. high schools, and community colleges, and also participates in regional forums when asked, as a representative
of WCU Admissions Office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:
Minimum Qualifications:
Interested candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment sponsorship or any other
immigration-related assistance.A masters degree and one year of admissions experience, or a bachelors degree and an equivalent combination
of training and experience.Must be eligible for and/or possess a valid North Carolina driver license.Must be able to lift and/or move medium
to heavy objects when setting up recruiting events.
Preferred Qualifications: A masters degree is preferred.Previous
admissions experience is preferred.Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
