This position provides education, funding information, and career navigation services to potential and students in the
Shoreline Community area. The Adult Outreach Recruiter will provide individuals and community business organizations (both established and
new) an overview of the admissions process and advising assistance, career pathways in a variety of industry fields, resources afforded to
students to align their knowledge, skills, abilities and interests with SCC programs, and assistance that may guide individuals beyond the
admissions and initial registration processes. This position is responsible for building and maintaining community partnerships with
multiple organizations that foster support for adult looking for financial assistance through Workforce and Worker
Retraining.
Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Develop and maintain outreach efforts to new CBO/agency/business
partners in effort to recruit new students. - Identify and develop relationships with an active network of community partners,
agencies, and employers, and internal stakeholders on campus to support outreach and recruitment efforts. - Develop and implement a
comprehensive outreach and recruitment plan in collaboration with the Workforce Education, Communications & Marketing, and Strategic
Enrollment Management teams. - Expand outreach to underserved communities through “mail route” flyers, participation in tabling
events, and collaborative efforts with campus faculty and staff. - Manage “in-reach” to current Shoreline Community College students
through classroom presentations, inclusion of Workforce Education (WFE) info in course syllabi, program-specific info sessions, and training
of WFE work study students who may conduct classroom presentations. - Coordinate with campus community to develop understanding of
current programs, resources and on-campus events.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution OR equivalent education and experience;
- Experience with at-risk
populations of low-income students and students seeking professional technical training.
Knowledge
Of:
- Microsoft Office applications such as Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word programs.
- Electronic record management
systems (such as ctcLink) or similar. - Regional labor market/hiring trends, and state-wide trends in Workforce
Education. - Best practices in support activities for at-risk populations of potential/existing students.
- Best practices in
budget management, pro-active fiscal planning. - FERPA, HIPAA and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to
students.
Skill In:
- Fostering a climate of equity/belonging through multicultural awareness and
responsiveness. - Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels.
- Time
management, multitasking, and coordinating outcomes/activities with multiple partners. - Interpreting applicable laws, regulations,
and policies accurately. - Effectively communicating with individuals at all levels.
- Handling sensitive situations using
sound independent judgment within legal guidelines. - Developing specialized services and support specific to the populations served.
- Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound judgment within legal guidelines.
- Collaborating with or leading
groups of people in various situations including open discussion, training sessions, workgroups, and committees.
Conditions
of Employment
Physical Work Environment:
The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality
of operations (both online and in-person services are offered). Administrators are assigned to work on campus, noting there may be some
opportunities to work remotely based on program or area needs. If authorized for limited remote work, employees will need to provide their
own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. When working
on-campus, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both
on and off campus, using the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means. This position also works weekends and evenings
when appropriate or needed is required.
Terms Of Employment/Salary:
- This is a full-time
administrative/exempt annually contracted position - Initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon
education/experience. - Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
