Tech hiring has been on a persistent “wait and watch” mode for months. Even Big Tech has rationalised the workforce. But the situation is not completely bleak.

There is an ongoing need for updates, new features and security patches, and all of this needs trained people, says Indeed. In the age of rapid tech advancements such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, there is demand to support new projects, enhance digital infrastructure, and keep up with technological advancements.

There will be an 8.5% increase in IT hiring next year, says Indeed. The job search portal says that even now, 70% of the roles for which hiring is going is in software. Developers are needed to build specialised codes and to maintain systems.

Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales, Indeed India, says, “Recent quarters saw a slowdown in hiring, with companies exercising caution as they navigated through global uncertainties and economic shifts. Now, the tide is turning. Companies are actively ramping up their hiring efforts. We can also expect global capability centers (GCCs) to significantly contribute to this uptick in hiring, particularly in software and technological roles.”
