The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for an Associate Director of Graduate Admissions, Recruiting and Operations. The Associate Director serves as an integral member of the McIntire Graduate Marketing & Admissions team. S/he reports directly to the Director of Graduate Recruiting & Admissions for the Pre-Experience programs and has an active role in the recruitment, evaluation, and yield of candidates to these programs. The Associate Director also contributes to the successful accomplishment of the unit’s graduate enrollment objectives by working with GMA colleagues to implement a comprehensive student recruitment plan which includes but is not limited to: effective and efficient processing of prospect and applicant data, managing best practices for data and technology, and performing database administrator duties, contributing to the goal of exceptional customer service.

The Associate Director assists senior staff in developing approaches to problem solving, anticipating issues, and performs long-term or non-routine assignments in the CRM system (Slate) with minimal supervisory intervention. S/he also trains, serves as a resource, and provides guidance to other staff members regarding non-routine problems, processes, and policies as it relates to the use of Slate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment: Serves as a knowledgeable representative for Pre-Experience Programs, promoting McIntire degree offerings and engaging with prospective candidates through recruitment events.
  • Evaluation: Maintains expertise in admissions processes, objectively assesses application materials, conducts evaluative interviews, and provides recommendations to the Admissions Committee.
  • Yield: Supports yield activities for Pre-Experience Programs through events and engagement, involving students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
  • Data, Reporting & Systems Management: Leads CRM (Slate) configuration and customization to optimize admissions processes, including event management, data integration, and communications. Manages daily operations, implements advanced features, ensures data quality, supports staff training, and uses analytics to drive strategic decision-making and enhance enrollment outcomes.
  • Inclusive Excellence: Advances recruitment and yield of diverse candidates while collaborating with stakeholders to support admissions and school-wide efforts to foster inclusivity and belonging.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7 years of experience within a university (experience with admissions, career management, or student and/or academic services) or 12 or more years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience as a Technolutions Slate “Captain”
  • SQL, XML, HTML and Javascript abilities preferred
  • Previous experience in graduate management education admissions, recruitment, advising, and/or career development
  • Experience in a CRM-based function required; experience with Technolutions Slate highly preferred
  • Relevant technology experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of systems, data analysis and/or higher education admissions operations
  • Familiarity with Peoplesoft or other enterprise SIS systems and enterprise-level integrations

Anticipated Hiring Range: $70,00 – $80,000

This position is based in Charlottesville and requires some weekend and evening work as well as the ability to travel throughout the U.S.

The position is eligible for participation in UVA Flex Work as outlined in the University Workplace Flexibility Policy.
