Job Purpose
Admissions Counselors travel to high schools and community colleges with the goal of recruiting, encouraging, and assisting prospective students with the admissions process while providing information about Tennessee Tech. The main purpose of this position is to build relationships with prospective students and high school counselors, which is vital to recruitment.

Essential Functions
Reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions and serves as a member of the Admissions Office team while managing a recruitment territory and working toward achieving the enrollment goals of Tennessee Tech. Travels extensively (both daytime and overnight) to visit high schools across the state of TN, in addition to events in other states as needed. Admissions Counselors are a key source of information for all prospective students, parents, school counselors, and departments across campus. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Making daily presentations to groups of various sizes both on and off campus. Giving tours for the Campus VIP program. Representing Tennessee Tech at college fairs, private visits and other recruiting events for high school students. Building relationships with prospective students via social media, email, phone calls, and in-person. Establishing immediate rapport and communicating effectively with prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and departments across campus. Organizing travel schedule to cover assigned territory and responsibilities. Organizing and/or participating in special events for prospective students and applicants, such as Preview Days and Spring Showcase. Performing other duties/tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Willingness and ability to travel as needed (both daytime, nighttime and weekends). A valid driver’s license. Experience working with high school and/or college students. Strong interpersonal skills. Enthusiastic, outgoing, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Driven and self-motivated with ability to work responsibly with little supervision. Comprehensive understanding of software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and fundamental concepts of computer systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with premiere customer service, public speaking, marketing, social media, or education/counseling areas. Experience coordinating projects and/or events. Experience with utilizing a CRM and various social media outlets.
Work Hours: Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Evening and weekend hours can be common depending on the time of year.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 6.
