Job Description:

As a Graduate Assistant serving in the Admissions Support role, you will be important in representing the CBU and supporting its mission. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor and resource for students, providing guidance and support to ensure their academic and professional success.

Responsibilities

Admissions Support:

  • Act as a liaison between the Admissions, the Graduate School, the Registrar, and CBU students.
  • Assist with organizing and executing events, workshops, and information sessions to promote the CBU and its initiatives.
  • Serve as a source of information for CBU, engaging with prospective students, current students, and alumni.
  • Represent CBU at networking events and other professional gatherings.
  • Support and promote communication regarding commencement and its associated events (e.g., regalia pick-up).
  • Specific attendance and assistance would be required for New Student Orientation and information sessions that each occur three times yearly. These events typically occur outside of regular work hours, and dates will be furnished for planning purposes as soon as they are available.

Mentorship and Support:

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to incoming CBU students, assisting them in navigating academic requirements, professional development opportunities, and campus resources.
  • Support international students facing academic challenges, personal issues, or career-related concerns, connecting them with appropriate resources and support services.
  • Foster a sense of community among graduate students by organizing social events, study groups, and networking opportunities.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and academic excellence.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at Christian Brothers University.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a commitment to serving as a positive representative of the Admissions department.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to provide constructive feedback and support to students.
  • Knowledge of campus resources and support services available to graduate students is preferred.
