The Position:
Assistant Director/Program Coordinator, Emerging Leaders
Job Summary:

This is a two-year, grant-funded position provided by the American Talent Initiative IDEAS fund. This individual provides support to the Emerging Leaders program through the Office of Multicultural Life and Office of Admissions.

Schedule & Benefits: This is a full-time, year-round position located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pre-College Programming

  • Identify and select upperclass students in the Emerging Leaders program to serve as mentors to prospective students in the Pre-EL program for high school students.

  • Provide mentor training and support to upperclass students.

  • Participate in recruitment and selection of Pre-EL high school participants.

  • Support members of the Office of Admission in delivering programming to Pre-EL participants.

  • Track and manage program participation from initial contact through application and matriculation.

  • Support admissions events for Pre-EL participants once a semester at ‘Berg Belong and Muhlenberg 4 You including event planning and support on day of events during two weekend events per year.

Emerging Leaders Program

  • Serve as a member of the admissions selection committee to identify and select program participants.

  • Provide support for Emerging Leaders program at the direction of the EL Program Leaders.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the EL program.

  • Develop sustainable processes and training materials to ensure smooth transitions and develop talent within the program.

  • Serve as an advisor to up to five students.

  • Support other EL advisors by assisting with documentation, follow up and outreach to students and coordinating materials in a central location.

Assessment and Reporting

  • Ensure accurate records to ensure alignment with the goals of the grant proposal including budget reporting including receipts, event attendance, outreach efforts and other relevant data.

  • Develop and implement assessment tools at all key points to ensure continuous program improvement.

  • Assist grant leaders with presentations to a variety of stakeholders to report on grant activities and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Experience and commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging and working with diverse populations.

  • Experience serving as a mentor to college-age students.

  • Knowledge of the college search and enrollment process.

  • Attention to detail is essential.

  • Demonstrated skills emphasizing professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple offices across campus.

  • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.
